About
I am an economist specializing in international trade and investment, with a primary focus on the Korean economy. I am interested in multinational enterprise’s strategies in global markets and their impacts on the national economy - employment and productivity. I mainly use firm-level micro datasets of Korean firms in my research.
I obtained my B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Sogang University in 1993 and 1995, respectively. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001. During my Ph.D., I met Professor Robert W. Staiger who supervised me throughout my graduate studies. In 2001, I joined the Department of Economics, National University of Singapore (NUS). After 7 years in NUS, I decided to come back to Korea and in 2008 I joined the Department of Economics, Sogang University.
Currently I teach graduate level and undergraduate level International Trade. I am also running various reading groups and seminars related to international trade such as the Sogang Trade Workshop and reading groups for graduate students.
